About

Olha Pryymak is marking one year since violent outbreak in Ukraine with exhibition of her new UKRAINE DIARIES paintings and talks on the subject of ART AS A RESPONSE TO CONFLICT AND VIOLENCE.

Olha Pryymak paints one small figurative painting a day forming a visual diary of her emotional response to her surroundings in combination with news coming from her land of origin.

Ukraine Diaries are clusters of small oil paintings, which depict snapshots of events of the past year in Ukraine as seen through the artist’s immediate surroundings.

At the end of the private view we'll have a panel discussion on the topic : Art as a Response to Conflict and Violence. Speakers include:

Svitlana Pyrkalo: London-based Ukra...inian writer and journalist, originator of the BBC Ukrainian annual book prize

Natalia Antonova: playwright and journalist (Guardian, Moscow Times) managing editor at ROOM journal;

Zoe Marriage: SOAS programme convenor for MSc Violence, Conflict and Development Zoë also writes the Violence, Conflict & Development @ SOAS Blog, a convenor's-eye view of the MSc Violence, Conflict and Development (VCD) programme.
