About

Learn about the great design movements, practices and practitioners associated with the Twentieth Century and discover the background to their genesis in the social, political, economic and aesthetic events that began around the year 1900. Mondays, 17 September 2012 — 22 July 2013 (over 3 terms), 11.00—15.30 The first two terms will focus on the developing commercial function of design, on its ethical dimension, on its role in popular culture, and on its stylistic evolution. Architecture, jewellery, works in glass, fashion, graphic design, theatre sets, and furniture will all be considered both in the context of the V&A collections and wider examples. In the summer term modern artefacts at the V&A will be examined and contemporary designers and design professionals will describe and discuss their practice, interpretation and presentation of design. To view the full study programme please visit the V&A website. The V&A run other courses and workshops, for further information visit www.vam.ac.uk/courses. Book online or call 020 7942 2211
