About

Art Gallery Management & Exhibition design workshop 10 hour Intensive workshop during the weekend; Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday from 11am to 4:00pm. Complete Course fee: £150.00 The Gallery Management and Exhibition studies course was created by Tina Ziegler, Contemporary art curator and art dealer with over 9 years of experience. The 10 hour course will teach you the tools and requirements needed to work in an art gallery environment. You will understand the day to day management of an art space, the responsibilities of a gallery manager and how to create, develop and organize an art exhibition from start to finish.The course will give you a competitive edge over your peers when applying for positions in art galleries or artist run spaces. The course programme is broken down in to 4 sections: 1. The Art Gallery: -Introduction to Art Galleries - The Commerical Gallery and The brand - Secondary and Primary Markets 2. Gallery Management - Job description and responsiblities. - Artist Management - Buyer Management - Sales and marketing of an art gallery 3. Exhibition Studies -How to organize an exhibition. From start to finish. -How to "curate" an exhibition. Discussing show concepts, art selection and layout design. -How to stand out with your exhibitions and create interest. 4. Art Handling - Packaging and storing artworks -Shipping artworks -Installing artworks -Lighting artworks Review: Curating an Exhibition Writing your Curatorial Statement. To finish off the workshop, you will be asked to present an idea for curating an exhibition or a small business idea relevant to the workshop. This time is dedicated to getting valuable feedback from the group and sharing your ideas with others. The workshop is a great opportunity for those looking to learn what it takes to work as a curator, art dealer, gallery manager or artist representative in today's art market. All students that attend will join the Stimulus Alumni group where you can continue to network with previous students and art world contacts.
