About
The Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award (ARMA) was established in memory of the artist Alexandra Reinhardt and is supported by the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust.
The annual Award enables an artist to undertake a residency working with children and young people to create an artwork in the public realm.
engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, has been running the Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award programme since 2012.
Alison Carlier was chosen to undertake the residency, and began in May 2016.
Over the subsequent ten weeks she carried out education and participatory work at Aspex, leading the weekly ‘Family Saturdays’ session and a series of workshops for St Georges Beneficial School.
These workshops informed the development of a new semi-permanent artwork located at the entrance to our new Artist’s Studio, launched on 1 December 2016, coinciding with our 10 year anniversary in The Vulcan Building.
The work displayed in this exhibition documents the process of the residency and the workshops that took place.
