For UK Parliament Week, join Owen Hatherley, writer on Architecture and Politics, for a walking tour from Mall Galleries to the Houses of Parliament at Parliament Square.
About
Owen will discuss the ways in which the exteriors of buildings of Government express what goes on inside, why they look the way they do and how they are meant to make you feel
UK Parliament Week is an annual festival that engages people from across the UK with Parliament, explores what it means to them and empowers them to get involved.
Sketchbooks and drawing materials will be provided by Seawhite of Brighton, for those who wish to make visual notes and sketch the buildings under discussion.
Meet at 11am at Mall Galleries. The walk will end at Parliament Square.
Owen Hatherley's book A Guide to the New Ruins of Great Britain was published in 2010. Landscapes of Communism: A History Through Buildings, a history of communism in Europe told through the built environments of former socialist states, was published in 2015. He writes regularly for Building Design, The Guardian, Icon, the London Review of Books, New Humanist, the New Statesman.
