Vicki Ambery-Smith, the renowned architectural silversmith has recreated key Oxford landmarks in silver to celebrate the 350 year anniversary of the construction of The Sheldonian Theatre
About
Six architectural gems of the Oxford skyline are to be exhibited in this forthcoming exhibition ‘Architecture in Miniature’ in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, which runs from November 14th 2015, until May 15th 2016. Timothy Wilson, Keeper of Western Art at the Ashmolean Museum, asked Vicki Ambery-Smith, to create six pieces based on her chosen Oxford landmarks in silver - these include The Sheldonian Theatre, The Radcliffe Camera, Magdalen College Tower, Keble College, The Bodleian Library and St John's College. Vicki grew up in Oxford, living in the shadow of the Ashmolean Museum, so the exhibition is a ‘return home’ for her. Four of Hugh Colvin’s architectural installations inspired by Oxford will also be exhibited alongside these pieces.
