About
What connects a baroque palace with a ship's stern? The special exhibition "Architectura navalis - Floating Baroque" makes it clear. The exhibition focuses on the interaction of rural architecture and ship's rear architecture in the Baroque and their influence on the leitmotifs of the Rococo.
Central themes are the development of ships from functional vessels to floating rule architecture, the effect of the geometric principles of shipbuilding on the architectural elements and the adoption of decorative motifs of the ships in the Rococo interiors.
On 250 square meters high-quality ship models, ship drawings and architectural fragments are presented.
A research cooperation with the RWTH Aachen.
