About
This July, Arbonauts bring their new show The Desire Machine to the secretive Brunel Tunnel Shaft, in Southwark. From the 14th-25th July the Peckham based performance company will take audiences 10 meters below the banks of the Thames into a seldom-visited subterranean space and the machine that awaits.
The Desire Machine is a 360° immersive show combining performance, installation, aerials and an intense soundscape that plunges audiences into a hallucinatory world where figures and voices blend and echo for a thrilling, voyeuristic encounter. Following sell-out runs of their previous shows in 2012 & 2013, this intimate performance - part-peepshow, part-installation - will take people on a haunting journey into distortion and desire for a total theatrical experience.
Created for the old Brunel Tunnel Shaft in Rotherhithe, accessed through an inconspicuous small door, audiences will witness the spectacle in the cavernous underground space that is both a site of industrial heritage and one of the few remaining hidden gems of London.
