Year one recipients of the APT & Fenton Arts Trust Mentoring Award, Ned Armstrong and Lottie Stoddart, celebrate their year at APT with an exhibition of work, made over the last 12 months.
About
Jointly Funded by the Fenton Arts Trust and APT, this annual Award, which runs until 2025, provides free studio space for a year, alongside regular mentoring for 2 emerging artists, each year specialising in a different practice.
Painting was the focus in year one and we are delighted to introduce Lottie’s and Ned’s work, mentored this past year by esteemed APT artists Rebecca Harper and Mali Morris, respectively.
My year at APT has been brilliant; the friendliness and support of the APT community, the stream of events that has passed through the gallery, my lovely studio, the mentoring that's strengthened and developed my practice and the award's culminating exhibition - it's been a whirlwind of a good and happy time. I'm so grateful for this award, it has left me feeling ready to embark on the next phase of my career.
Lottie Stoddart
APT is a fantastic place filled with artists, and against the backdrop of much of the London artist studio world is a bit of an outlier in its provision of affordable and beautifully maintained studios. It has been fantastic painting there, next to the creek, getting to know the other artists much more experienced than I, and to glean what I could from them. Most particularly from my mentor Mali, who has been relentlessly generous on all fronts, and whose wisdom, care and thoughtfulness has anchored me throughout the year.
