APOCRYPHAL THEATER FESTIVAL
at Camden People's Theatre
58-60 Hampstead Road, London, NW1 2PY
Nearest tube: Warren Street, Euston Square

The Lorem Ipsum Gallery and Camden People's Theatre are delighted to present the experimental company Apocryphal Theatre's collective work, written and directed by Julia Lee Barclay: Besides, You Lose Your Soul or the History of Western Civilisation and The Jesus Guy. We are also delighted to present the multiplicity of voices that make up the Apocryphal Theatre: 2012 by Bill Aitchison, Future Worlds: Tricorn init! by Julia Lee Barclay with Scale Projects (Paul Burgess and Simon Daw), Strung Together by Alison Blunt with Ivor Kallin, Jumbled Wonder by Faculty of Wonder (Rachel Ellis and Lucy Foster), Humming Bird by Lukas Angelini, Feldröhren I+II by Boris Kahnert and This is How I Lost My Memory by Lucy Avery.
On the last day of the festival, Barclay will do a reading of her brand new text We Live In Financial Times, Part 1 Blackberry Curve, which has been written in response to recent global financial and political developments. The audience as well as company performers are welcome to respond to this reading however they see fit.
During the festival, Barclay will lead an intensive workshop (8th-9th and 15-16th November) in Apocryphal Theatre's working methods and discoveries, which will culminate in workshop participants creating their own short piece, for an informal showing on the final day of the festival.
Apocryphal Theatre is an international group of experimental performers, dancers, visual artists and musicians whom, connected by a common interest in improvisational creating, are dedicated to âunearthing the reality-grid of right now, both public and private'. Apocryphal Theatre meets once a week to explore new territories in their craft and also create performances for the public. Apocryphal Theatre exists within and between the worlds of theatre and art, performing regularly both at Camden People's Theatre where they are in residence and at the Lorem Ipsum Gallery on Vyner Street, Bethnal Green, which represents Apocryphal Theatre. They also regularly collaborate with Resonance FM London's Art Radio station.
Apocryphal Theatre and Julia Lee Barclay have shown work nationally and internationally at various venues such as Tate Modern, Chelsea Theatre, Etcetera Theatre, Arcola Theatre and Camden People's Theatre in London, and Brick Theatre, The Present Company, Fringe NYC, Ohio Theatre and HERE in New York.
Individual company members have toured nationally and internationally in music, theatre and art venues with their work throughout Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
