Antonia Williams works are in both large and small scale. Some of the paintings offer a close up view of textures and colours of fruits, vegetables and flowers, as if they were landscapes or monstrous living beings. Other works portray landscapes and still lives where the fruit or vegetables are out of scale to the strange environments, which enclose the subjects and compliment their texture and colours. Some of these works have been influenced by the 17th Century Spanish tradition of placing the subject in a frame within a frame.
