Contemporary artist Dorthory Cross presents her 2005 video which tracks deep sea divers in the eerie waters of Antarctica. The monochrome film is reversed and the negative image of icebergs, divers and caves is captured. Ice mountains take on a dark brooding appearance while dark deep caves seem filled with light.
Born in Ireland in 1956, Cross became well known in the art world during the 1990s for a series of sculptural objects made from cow skins and their udders. More recently she has used photography and film to create works which turn our perspective on everyday things inside out.
