About
Another Output
22 April — 23 May, 2021
Parallel event of Program Art Moscow × 46th Russian Antique Salon
In 2021, Triumph Gallery presented Another Output, Alex Kuznetsov’s solo exhibition in Moscow. The show marked an important stage in the artist’s transition from graffiti culture into a studio-based abstract practice.
Having started in the 1990s with graffiti, Kuznetsov became known for large-scale works in public space, but eventually turned to canvas in search of duration and material presence. Another Output gathered paintings where surface, rhythm, and time became central. Some works were shown on raw cotton canvas, others on aluminum dibond — two contrasting supports that revealed how differently acrylic paint behaves: one open and tactile, the other sharp, almost digital.
Kuznetsov worked with an aluminum straightedge instead of a brush, layering paint in repeated movements. The process emphasized pressure, resistance, and accident rather than expressive gesture. Each surface accumulated over time, slowly finding its own closure. The exhibition suggested abstraction not as an image to interpret, but as a construction to spend time with — a place where attention stretches and perception shifts.
Artist Bio (updated)
Alex Kuznetsov (b. 1978) is a Lisbon-based artist whose practice spans abstraction, language, and process-driven experimentation. His paintings are built through layered applications of acrylic paint with industrial tools, resisting immediacy and inviting prolonged attention.
