Ten individual installations at the MODULAR+ Space that examine the relation between performer/spectator, actor/audience, artist/visitor. An exhibition around terms of interaction, participation and participative observation.
About
The works which will be exhibited under the title A/NOESIS exist at the intersection of visual art and sound. The merger of the ten artists has developed an exhibition of ten individual installations at the MODULAR+ SPACE gallery located in GREENHOUSE, Neukölln to examine the relation between performer - spectator, actor - audience, artist - visitor: a research around terms of interaction, participation, participative observation and an examination of the complex relationship between the sense of self and the awareness of others in an installative as well as a performative scenario.
NOESIS comes from the Greek verb noéō (νοέω), meaning to perceive, think, intend. It is the exercise of reason, the process, the act of perceiving or thinking, separated from the object of perception.
ANOESIS is consciousness that is pure sensation, passive receptiveness, separated from the intellectual understanding of the experience. This disparity creates a field of tension that the artists examine with their work. Thus, the artists' arrangements are walkable, modifiable, need an impulse, a reaction, an impetus from the visitors to become complete. The 3 day exhibition is an attempt, an induction of friction, an eradication on the 8th floor of the GREENHOUSE building Berlin with performances on the opening day of the exhibition as well as the finissage.
This exhibition was organised by students of the "Per-former/ceiver" Seminar by Daisuke Ishida as part of the Sound Studies and Sonic Arts Studiengang at the Universität der Kunst Berlin
