The Cynthia Corbett Gallery is proud to present highly-acclaimed French painter Anne Françoise Couloumy. Couloumy who was appointed to the rank of Chevalier by l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, République Françaisein January 2007, brings to London her extraordinary paintings. After completing her studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Couloumy proceeded to exhibit her work in France, where she rapidly gained recognition. Her first exhibition in Paris in 1994, was a huge success. Since then, she has enjoyed sell-out shows in Paris, London and New York - the waiting list for her paintings is testimony that her work has captured the imagination of the cultural and intellectual community in France and beyond and her work hangs in collections world-wide.The work of Anne Françoise Couloumy is reminiscent of Vermeer, Balthus and Hopper. There is a poignant intimacy to her work as she captures a serene silence, her use of light and attention to detail are truly exemplary.
Born in Paris in 1961, Anne Françoise Couloumy trained at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Anne Françoise Couloumy lives and works at Maison des Artistes in Charenton-le-Pont and is represented in London and Internationally by The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, London.
