Woodward (b.1998, London) creates fantastical worlds that sit between utopia and dystopia, making spaces that are beyond the realm of the viewer's reality, where biomorphic forms grow freely amongst echoes of the human-made. Woodward works predominantly in oil on linen, working in series of layers and different painterly techniques, from loose washes of oil paint to the highly rendered biomorphic forms that often snake their way around the works. All of these aspects come together to create new worlds, fecund and wild, natural and industrial, sinister and beautiful. They are psychological and physical spaces, that question our relationship with the natural environment and our wider existence.
