Anna Uddenberg: FAKE-ESTATE x Jon Rafman: Ɛցɾҽցօɾҽʂ & 𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗦

In FAKE-ESTATE, Uddenberg’s most extensive solo exhibition in Berlin to date, the artist presents a site-specific installation ‘used’ for an ongoing durational live performance in the Schinkel Pavillon's iconic upper level. Focusing on the 'furnituresque' parts of her sculptural practice, quasi-functional objects become activated through performance. The introduction of performers to 'use' or be 'used' by objects, extends the artist’s long-running fascination with functionality as a mode of control. Stuck in a feedback loop, the 'Self' resolves.

From September, Jon Rafman will take over the Schinkel Pavillon’s dungeon-like lower-level presenting the exhibition Ɛցɾҽցօɾҽʂ & 𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗦. The exhibition takes its titles from the language of Magick, the words Grimoire or spell-book, and Egregore, an Occult concept which represents a non-physical entity arriving from the collective unconscious. Rafman presents two new narrative films in addition to two short films. Ɛցɾҽցօɾҽʂ& 𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗦 opens parallel to a concurrent show at Sprüth Magers Berlin, Rafman’s first in Germany since 2017.
