LOVERS is a series of new paintings by Anna Laurini. Suitably set in a valentine context, these new works engage in discourse with the human psyche and explore its tenderness and sentiment through a series of narratives indicated by the titles. Through the application of multiple mixed-media techniques, Laurini's canvasses defy the limitations of their materiality in expressing a visceral quality instrumental to their strength. Powerfully abstract and chromatically radiant, a maelstrom of thoughts, colours, feelings, and emotions are unleashed, communicating snippets of the artist's recollections and reflecting those of the viewer in their quasi-metallic finish.
