ANNA de POLNAY
About
Having had a very successful career as one of the most renowned muralists in the country Anna de Polnay has now turned her talents towards the art of Portraiture. When interviewed about her work she becomes animated as she describes her passion for portraiture and that moment when she starts the portrait with a nervous or at least self conscious subject and they relax and start to enjoy the experience immensely. She is a fabulous observer. The Event of the making of the portrait becomes a thoroughly enjoyable experience visually and intellectually, physically and sensually. Even I have signed up to be painted during the week...I can't resist although I am a little worried about hiding my third chin! JHAnna de Polnay . Artist's Biography
After a lifetime of painting and drawing, including thirty years working as a commissioned muralist, decorative artist and illustrator, Anna now finds portraiture the most frustrating and rewarding expression of all. The endlessly fascinating human face and how to reveal what lies beyond the arrangement of features; it's a limitless journey.
Anna de Polnay originally studied Theatre Design at Chelsea School of Art and then went on to train as an actor at LAMDA, enjoying a 10 year career in Film, TV and Theatre in the UK and Australia. In the early 1980's, she rediscovered her passion for painting, initially as a muralist and later as a fine artist.
