Anita Klein's work depicts the various activities and relationships of family life in paintings, prints and ceramics.

She is drawn to the precious, tiny moments we sometimes forget to appreciate. Whilst partly autobiographical, Anita works from memory giving her figures mask-like qualities leaving the individual identities ambiguous. This subtle distance from figurative reality lends to a universal appeal and understanding of the work.

Anita is more interested in conveying the feeling of a moment than the look of it. The design and composition of her work is carefully considered to serve the feeling and spirit of an experience. She captures intimate, often gently humorous, scenes that treasure the joys of daily life and family.

"I want to celebrate the small moments we all tend to overlook. They're the really important things."

Anita studied at Chelsea and the Slade schools of art. She is a fellow and past president of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE) and her work is in many private and public collections in Europe, the USA and Australia, including Arts Council England and the British Museum. She divides her time between studios in London and Anghiari, Italy.
