Anish Kapoor & Rembrandt
27 Nov 2015 – 6 Mar 2016
- Museumstraat 1
Works by the celebrated British artist Anish Kapoor will go on show in the Gallery of Honour at the Rijksmuseum from 27 November 2015 to 6 March 2016.
The three painted reliefs created from layers of red and white resin and silicone evoke images of bloody, sinewy lumps of meat. At the Rijksmuseum these extraodinary visceral works will enter a visual dialogue with Rembrandt’s late works, such as The Jewish Bride, The Syndics, Titus Dressed as a Monkand Self-Portrait as the Apostle Paul.
The Rijksmuseum regularly offers space to contemporary artists including Anselm Kiefer (2011), Frank Auerbach (2013), Damien Hirst (2008) and Daan Roosgaarde (2014). In the permanent collection are works exhibited by Subodh Gupta, Ai Weiwei, Edmund de Waal and Richard Wright.
