About
The works displayed in this exhibition have been influenced by two themes that currently influence Angela's work as a landscape artist. Firstly, visual ambiguity, when subject matter can have both order and a randomness, often enhanced by the interaction with sunlight producing transient shadows and reflections and secondly, exploring images that produce similar emotions irrespective of the observer.
The works displayed here are centred on Birmingham City Centre landscapes that result from the reflective surfaces that adorn many of its recent buildings. Here are images that are ambiguous and bizarre, scenes of distortion of real buildings presenting almost unreal images in their reflection. There are an almost infinite number of landscapes depending upon the position of the observer. These paintings attempt to capture both the spontaneity and the transience of the images that any observer would experience.
