About
Ane Hjort Guttu premieres Time Passes, a new film piece commissioned by Bergen Kunsthall, Norway, with the SLG. Set in Bergen, the film portrays an art student who undertakes to sit next to a woman begging as part of her artistic practice, and the subsequent discussion it provokes with her fellow students.
Also presented is the film Freedom Requires Free People (2012), a documentary about an eight year old boy and his attitude towards school. Guttu’s film and art practice question the use of and access to public space, as well as issues of power, freedom and the role of art and the artist within political systems. Her film works range from scripted fiction to more classical documentary.
Ane Hjort Guttu is the 2015 Festival Artist at Bergen Kunsthall where her exhibition is open until 16 August 2015.
