Roo Wilson is a qualified veterinarian and an artist based in Oxford. At the heart of his drawing and painting is a love of colour and the natural high it elicits. He discovered India ink pens after experimenting with a limited palette and he continues to use them over a decade later. His pieces are always filled with hidden easter eggs and concepts aiming to be both immersive and accessible. The colours are unapologetically loud but always balanced.

This piece: “Pay close attention”, came from a long-standing fascination with the subconscious and imagination. The black and white images surrounding the central panel represent mundane day to day activities, expressed as an American style patchwork quilt. The quilt is pulled apart with surgical stretchers, revealing a window into a more playful and surreal dimension. The concept was first realised whilst opening the bathroom cabinet behind the mirror one morning.
