'A Year in Cornwall' is the latest exhibition by renowned Cornish artist, Andrew Tozer. This new body of work captures the lifestyle and changing seasons of the beautiful South West coast of the UK.

About

Distinguished landscape artist Andrew Tozer was born in Falmouth, Cornwall into a Cornish farming family in 1974. Known for his mastery in depicting light on water, Tozer is respected as both a plein air and studio painter.

Tozer studied at Westminster University and Central St Martin’s School of Art in London. Ingrained in his being, Tozer yearned to be back in the Cornish landscape and after five years in London he returned to Falmouth to live and work amongst his most inspiring surroundings. To this day, he lives and works from his family farm in Falmouth and is happiest when working en plein air. Tozer incorporates filtered memory into his paintings adding a personalised touch on familiar landscapes.

The legacy of Impressionism resonates throughout Tozer’s paintings, you can feel the movement and energy within his works. There is an immediacy about his style; the fast and accurate brushstrokes build up to a bigger picture- that is not to undermine the proficiency in his technique. Tozer captures the essence of his surroundings through rigorous craftsmanship and an intensity and complexity in his paint handling, and he is celebrated as one of the leading contemporary painters in his field.
