Arusha Gallery presents a duo show called, Two shoes are not a pair, with works by Andrei Pokrovskii and Katerina Lukina.
About
Andrei Pokrovskii's characters serve as an extension of landscape and perform fragments of an obscure play - its gestures, incompleteness and fragmentariness serve as a starting point and invitation for entrance. Wooden surfaces of the paintings, panels and sculpted details which often accompany Andrei's work symbolise the growing embryos of paintings interior - elements of architecture, furniture and vegetation, which expand the painting beyond its borders, making the work an artifact of the place it depicts.
Katerina Lukina works with the theme of vision, rites of passage (transformation) and the search for super vision. From project to project, she tries to formulate various methods and practices that symbolize the internal changes of the character, the transformation of the body and rebirth in a new quality. In her works she uses digital graphics, UV printing and laser cutting, creating multi-layer plywood reliefs. Sometimes with added hand-made wooden sculpture, pyrography and various materials.
