In the first chapter of the bible, God commanded the first humans to have dominion over the Earth (Genesis 1: 28). So far however, rather than using our dominion to cultivate and care for the earth, humans have chosen to conquer it.
About
“And It Was Good” has been organised by seven members of Interface London, a community group of Christian art and design students. It is an open-call exhibition which was born out of a desire to raise awareness over the environmental problems our planet faces and better understand God’s idea of “dominion”. We invite all students currently enrolled at a London-based arts school whose work responds to the term ‘environmental art’. Through our selection we are excited to illustrate how environmental art has evolved since its emergence in the 1960s, with famous individuals such as Robert Morris, Agnes Denes and Piotr Kowalski. The result will be a diverse programme, one which provides the audience with the opportunity to encounter environmental art in a variety of unexpected and creative ways.
