Powderhall Bronze are running specialist sculpture courses led by professional artists offering expert tuition in sculptural processes.
Kenny Hunter is one of Scotland’s leading contemporary artists. He is also currently Director of the Sculpture Programme at Edinburgh College of Art.
A two-day course working from a life model to create a small figure in clay modelled on a wire armature. Introducing the subject of figurative sculpture from pre-history to the contemporary era. Incorporating practical demonstrations the course covers anatomy, mass, volume, negative space, composition, balance and gravity as it pertains to the modelling of figurative sculpture.
All materials and lunch will be provided on both days.
There will be a tour of the Foundry explaining the processes involved in casting sculpture, including a bronze pouring. Finally you will be offered the opportunity to have your finished piece cast by skilled artisans into plaster, resin or bronze at the end of the course. Participants will receive a 15% discount for casting services.
