About

Join us for an early evening Coast to Coast to Coast celebration of poetry and creativity including readings from Katharine Towers and Jean Atkin, a presentation linked to themes of Katharine’s work by photographer, Ron Davies, and the opportunity to respond to a prompt to begin your own poem or piece of writing.

There will be a pivotal reading from Katharine Towers whose third full collection Oak was published by Picador in November 2021. Oak is longlisted for the Laurel Prize 2022. In 2019 Katharine published a pamphlet, The Violin Forest (HappenStance Press) which we had the pleasure of hearing her read in Liverpool. Katharine is currently working on a sequence of poems about the English composer Gerald Finzi and a series of essays about Virginia Woolf.

Jean Atkin will read from her collections exploring long-ago winter journeys; the old English months of the year, and how nature adapts, climate change, and place. Jean is working on a book focused around travels in Iceland, an environment where climate and geology have long been extraordinarily volatile. Jean’s latest book is, The Bicycles of Ice and Salt' (IDP, 2021)

A range of poets have responded to Coast to Coast to Coast prompts and some readers will share lines from projects/ litanies from 2018-2022

Members of the audience will have a chance to respond to a prompt to generate writing linked to the event.
