Join us to celebrate the opening of Inheritors with a special salon event hosted by artist filmmaker Andrew Kötting. Part of an ongoing series, Kötting will lead a wide-ranging journey through themes within Webb-Ellis’ film.
About
Andrew Kötting has been running ‘salons’ for over 15 years, initially developed with the artist and filmmaker Clio Barnard, at KIAD (now the University for the Creative Arts). Early on, students were shown diverse moving image works to pique curiosity and provoke debate. The salons grew in an organic way and are now often presented to the public to include readings, sound pieces and the occasional performance. For this event Kötting will exploresound, image and text-related works around the theme of “Movement From Deep Within”.
"[Kötting is] best known, and by many loved, for journey films in which the viewer gets hopelessly, blissfully, fecundly, provokingly lost." - Nigel Andrews, Financial Times, 2017
The Traces Commissions forms part of our on-going visual arts programme giving international visual artists an opportunity to make new work resulting from their extended encounter with the choreographic practices that enliven our spaces.
