About

“Danish bassist and group leader Henrik Jensen is one of a number of European musicians who have now made London their permanent home and it has added a new vibrancy to the already burgeoning London jazz scene. There is an economy of style that is admirable in this new recording from the quartet which succeeds in being both relaxed and intense at the same time. The overall feel echoes mid-1950s Miles as well as post-bop hues” Tim Stenhouse for UK VIBE

Henrik Jensen came to London from Denmark in 1997 to study electric bass at The Musicians Institute. He later transitioned to the double bass and became a student at the Royal Academy of Music on the Under-Graduate Jazz course.

Jensen now leads his own quartet ‘Followed By Thirteen’ which he founded in 2010. The group is about to release their 2nd album ‘BLACKWATER’ in September 2016, which features Andre Canniere-trumpet, Esben Tjalve-piano, and Antonio Fusco-drums. The quartet will be touring throughout the Uk in september, please check website for details.

Henrik Jensen’s rich bass tone has worked all over world from the Blue Note in Tokyo to concert halls in Moscow while still keeping busy on the London jazz scene.

Jensen has a close working relationship with saxophonist Peter Ehwald from Berlin, they recorded in 2008 the album Songs Of Trees with ‘The North Trio’ on 33 Jazz and in 2011 the duo album Jensen/Ehwald, recorded in the Union Chapel (London) He is also a part of ‘The Mauricio Velasierra Group’ (World / jazz), and has recently completed an album with the band. Henrik also plays in the trio NS3 trio lead by Italien drummer Antonio Fusco and UK pianist Bruno Heinen, and they are releasing their debut album on BABEL in february 2017.

For the last 9 years Jensen has also been working with London vocal trio ‘The Puppini Sisters’, whom he has toured with internationally and recorded with for major label Verve, UMG. Jensen is also soon to feature on their up-coming release this year (UMG). henrik-jensen.com
