Join us for an evening talk on the theme of ‘Amplifying Voices through Storytelling’, where we will be discussing how to handle a story with sensitivity, even when it is not your own. We will have animator, Nicola Jane Francis, and poet and writer, Jaspreet Kaur, in conversation.

About

Nicola Jane Francis is an artist and animator who has worked with Dulwich Picture Gallery on creating a new animation which explores the stories and experiences of our local community looking at the themes of journeys, migration, and belonging. These stories were captured during Collection Conversations at the Gallery connecting local community members with artworks from the Gallery.

Jaspreet Kaur is a poet and writer who performed as part of our wonderful ‘Word of Mouth’ poetry performance. Jaspreet Kaur aka Behind the Netra focuses on sharing her thoughts on gender issues, mental health stigma and the postcolonial immigrant experience.

They will be speaking on their experiences of storytelling, through visual and written production, and how they interpret and handle not only their own stories, but those of other people. We want to inspire and encourage our local communities and help people to understand the empowerment in sharing stories with one another. Please join us at this inspiring event.

This event is free and open to all.
