About
On Friday 11th September 2020 – 18:00 – 21:30, Alter Us proudly invites you to 'Is this normality?' a pop-up exhibition and the first event of the series Alter Us at Clerkenworks.
Alter Us is a London-based multidisciplinary collective where international artists explore the complex issues surrounding the environment. After launching the Alter Us manifesto in June 2019 at The Old Baths in Hackney Wick with an interactive installation called: Seeds, Water and Plastic, followed by art events and public discussions, the group has continued to collaborate and will now return to the physical space.
With 'Is this normality?', Alter Us brings together a selection of art works created in lockdown out of the collectives' interest in the environmental relation between humans and nature. Taking present environmental shifts caused by the global pandemic and an on-going climate change as a point of departure, 'Is this normality?' inquires about the status of the current normal.
The members of the group taking part in 'Is this normality?' are: César Baracca, Lorenzo Belenguer, Lois Bentley, Tere Chad, Sarah Cunningham, Mandeep Dillon, Paul Hindle, M. Lohrum, Nathalie Mei, Parizad Nobakht, Tom Norris, Teresa Paiva, Christopher Pearson, Ana Luiza Rodrigues, Ludmila Sigismondo, and Giuseppe Mario Urso.
The pop-up exhibition will be followed by monthly events on every second Friday of the month. The next event in series will take place on Friday 9th October 2020 hosting the art performance 'Lines of Life' by Madeleine Lohrum.
Exhibition open by appointment only.
