AboutFolie à Â Deux is an exciting new pop-up gallery and music venture launching its first Alternative-Folk music evening on 20 November from 19.00 23.00 at New Cross's vibrant Utrophia Project Space an old ice-cream factory turned art gallery and events space. The line-up will include performances by some of the most up-and-coming and talented folk musicians around - Dear Winesburg, Amber States and The Mariner's Children front man Benedict Rubinstein.
The Alt-Folk event celebrates Folie à Â Deux's first visual arts exhibition, also at Utrophia, entitled I have this strange kind of feeling and I just can't place it... The exhibition will run from 11 - 28 November 2010, and is a group show displaying the work of five artists: Judith Lyons, Nina Mankin, Giulia Ricci, Keith Roberts and Nina Royle. Using different media painting, drawing, camera-less photography, college and installation all the artists engage in diverse, yet equally intricate, beautiful and stirring ways with the notion of our 'environment'.
Hosted in one of the most unique, genuinely creative and welcoming spaces in London, Folie à Â Deux's Alt-Folk night will bring together some of the most exciting and talented contemporary folk musicians and visual artists around today. Laced with mulled wine, beer and other seasonal drinks, it will be a joyous, cosy and inspiring evening.
