About
Instead of working with brush and canvas, she works with people and social systems, in the process entering spheres where one would hardly expect artistic potential - such as in industrial production sites or on military manŠ âuvres. The mere documentation of events is however not what Almut Linde is aiming at. In her action photographs, sculptures and installations she specifically employs the techniques of Conceptual Art, Minimal Art and Action-Painting to direct attention to blind spots in perception.
Almut Linde has developed her practice from the observation of phenomena that are often perceived as dysfunctions or faults. Her works, which she realises from performances with people in real social spaces, are concerned with the basic questions of human existence, with the differences between individual existence and systematic constraint in social systems. She is always concerned with awareness of the movement behind the image.
Radical Beauty is the first extensive exhibition tour by Almut Linde with works dating from the past twenty years, and is accompanied by a substantial publication.
