Working from his East Sussex studio, Martin Pearce makes sculptural forms that recall shapes found in the natural world.
About
Martin Pearce makes sculptures that reference shapes found in the natural world. He talks about the trees and nearby coastal landscape as being important points of reference.
“I don’t intend representation with my work,” he says. “I might think a piece is looking a bit bone-like, but I don’t plan that. For me, they are abstract shapes but they have a relevance to certain things.”⠀
His biomorphic shapes are handbuilt using Earthstone white stoneware clay.
