Allure of Sorts

In collaboration, Tape Modern and Scaffold Gallery present a one-day public space performance art festival called Allure of Sorts. It will take place in various locations around the city centre of Manchester on the 11th of July. The event takes art away from the safety and context of the gallery, it wonders if the white cube is tired and what kind of spaces would best serve art and artists. It probes on the questions what can public space be used for, who has the right to do what and what is the role of art in the public. The event makes art accessible and approachable to everyone and disrupts the everyday comings and goings of the city's bustle. Will something slightly absurd jolt people out of their familiar frequencies and does that open one's eyes to look at their surroundings slightly differently.
