A major solo exhibition by Allan MacDonald, one of the UK’s most respected and accomplished landscape artists, inspired by the work of Tom Thomson.
Inspired by iconic artist Tom Thomson, Allan MacDonald returned from a visit to the lakes and rivers of Thomson’s Canada in the fall of 2019. In his baggage were small carefully wrapped paintings in bright autumn colours. These have now been worked up into a major exhibition - Algonquin - showing in Kilmorack Gallery in September this year. This new body of work brings Canada and Scotland together, and remind us of the small moments that both artists, Thomson and MacDonald, stretch out to become rapturous and significant.
