] G A Z E [ is delighted to present 'All Trussed Up and Nowhere To Go', a solo show by Damaris Athene. The site-specific installation features sculptural paintings and digitally printed fabric.
About
The exhibition brings different art forms together into a multi-faceted installation that features padded paintings and digitally printed fabric. The paintings traverse the boundary between painting and sculpture while evoking an unnerving sense of the body. The smooth airbrushed surface tantalises, begging for your touch. Protrusions bulge underneath the soft membrane, recalling fat and folds of flesh, and sinisterly hinting at what lies beneath. The fabric features digital collages which are made by layering and distorting photographs.
