‘All About Eve’ follows on from the recent success of the group show ‘Mirror, Mirror’ (April-May 2024) and the 2012 exhibition ‘Man Made God’, both of which were co-curated by Soheila Sokhanvari and Kristin Hjellegjerde at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery.

About

This new show invites artists of all genders and cultures to revisit the story of creation. The exhibition will consider the origins of earth from a wide range of contemporary perspectives, tracing the history of patriarchy and misogyny right back to the birth of Eve and exploring everything from cosmology, the evolution of religious rituals and societal structures right through tocontemporary forms of oppression. For instance, the title of the show, taken from the 1950 film starring Bette Davis as an aging Broadway Star, may invite contemplation on identity performance or reflect on the roots of ageism and gender discrimination.
