New painting, drawing, a collaborative mural and an 'Amazing Human Fruit Machine.'
About
The exhibition draws on a body of Frost's new paintings, produced over the past two years at his rural studio. The work marks a new direction for the artist. Here are paintings and drawings which appear to be quite formal in style but express a concern for the need to look twice at familiar and overfamiliar imagery in an age saturated by digital imagery and digital noise. The show also emphasises the different kinds of creativity that come from solo and collaborative work. Thus, the show includes two collaborations with Backlit's own studio artists. These are a large mural and an 'Amazing Human Fruit Machine' where the 'fruit machine' is a resolutely analogue device controlled by unseen human operators and the prizes are artworks made by Backlit studio artists.
