Soloway is pleased to present Alina Tenser's exhibition Passing Buttons.
Buttons are containers for holes, and the holes are containers of themselves. They have outlines and therefore autonomy. The buttonholes aid the button's job, they are the indicated points of connection. Within the large area of the button, the holes are the area of service that identifies the smooth flat shape, a notion, a fastener, a button. Button, the form, without the service holes, is a multi purpose discoid.. a stopper? A game piece? A blank coin? Its body, sleek, slipping through slits much too narrow, fitting to join. This is not a coital link, it's a stopping point. The connection is a long pause, a complete act.
A Button keeps porous the levels it unites.
