Alfredo Jaar's project Shadows is the second part of a trilogy of works investigating the power of uniquely iconic images.
About
At the centre of the installation is an image of two women who have just learned that their father has been murdered.
The photograph illuminates a moment of absolute grief. It was taken by the Dutch photographer Koen Wessing in the city of Estelí in Nicaragua during the last days of the dictatorship of the Somoza regime in 1978.
