About
Alexandra Pirici presents the new, site-specific installation “Attune” with live action and music at Hamburger Bahnhof. The expansive work marks the start of a new series of commissioned works for the museum's Historical Hall, which opens annually at Gallery Weekend Berlin.
With her expansive work “Attune,” Alexandra Pirici explores the way in which people – and their more-than-human fellow beings – resemble one another, influence one another and adapt to one another in order to produce complex structures, be they chemical, physical, mineral or social. Pirici creates a dynamic imaginary landscape in the historical hall of the Hamburger Bahnhof. She interweaves active sculptural elements with live action and polyphonic musical pieces that she choreographed and composed herself. In this simultaneously ancient and futuristic space, chemical reactions, mineral formations and physical phenomena appear alongside living bodies to acknowledge and celebrate the continuum between living and non-living matter. Together, these actors illustrate how stable structures emerge from the random background noise of atoms, molecules and cells. The miracle of self-organizing matter appears.
