Weaving Tapestries: Embroidery and Art Workshop
14 Oct 2023
Silian Gallery
London, United Kingdom
Silian Gallery is thrilled to present Outstretched, Alexander Haywood’s first solo exhibition in London, UK.
Exhibiting his newest works, the exhibition navigates and dissolves the liminal space between the real and the imagined, infusing the outer landscape with subjective inner perceptions.
Catching dew drops in morning light,
And scoop low mist in porous vessels.
Vapours rise through outstretched fingers,
And gather above in synchrony.
- Alexander Haywood
Outstretched, a word drawn from a short poem written by the artist, symbolically embodies the liminal space between the real and the imagined which he explores in his practice. Infusing familiar forms with otherworldly abstract, Haywood navigates the boundary between the recognizable and unknown, reaching to reveal both what is unique to one’s deeper psyche and universal to the human condition.
Alexander Haywood (b.1992, London, UK) graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a Bachelor’s degree (with Honours) in Fine Art in 2016 and is currently practising in Central Saint Martin’s, London. Haywood moved to Berlin to develop his painting practice for several years before recently returning to the UK. Haywood’s work has been exhibited internationally, including Michael Reid Berlin, Goethe University Frankfurt, Compass Gallery Glasgow, Rea! Art Fair Milan, and The Chainstore London.
Outstretched is Alexander Haywood’s first solo exhibition in London, UK. The exhibition will present some of his newest body of work.
