About

New York/Nuremberg/Kitzbühel
On November 30, 2024, the new original prints by US artist Alex Katz entitled “Elizabeth 2024”, “Summer” and “Red Tree” were published. The pictures were first presented at Art Basel Miami Beach and are now available for the first time in Germany and Austria at FRANK FLUEGEL GALERIE in Nuremberg and Kitzbühel.
The prints are of course signed and numbered. The nature works in particular complete the series “Autumn” and “Spring” by Alex Katz, which began in 2023 and attracted worldwide attention with the exhibition Seasons at Moma 2024 in New York, among others.
Alex Katz has painted both figures and landscapes throughout his career. Autumn 4 was created on a large scale and in vibrant colors. “I started looking at the landscapes as an environment that surrounds you,” says Katz. “There is no narrative. You're dealing with perception.”
On eleven monumental canvases, Katz showed the glowing foliage, the vast fields and the wind-blown trees as they changed with the seasons. Katz's Autumn series, created between 2022 and 2023, focuses on a vibrant autumn palette, while other paintings in the exhibition, from the related Field's End and Tree Top series, show calmer responses to the landscape in muted shades of green, yellow and gray.
FRANK FLUEGEL GALERIE has had the artist in its program since 1999 and has numerous prints and small paintings for sale. As every year, works of art are on display at FRANK FLUEGEL GALERIE in the Gamsstadt below the Hahnenkamm during the winter season. Previous exhibitions have sold out within a short space of time, as owners of larger chalets and properties on the Bichlalm, Lebenberg or Schwarzsee usually decorate their new domiciles with art. In addition to investment considerations, you can of course also buy the works of art simply to look at them. Many of the original works of art are also sold in winter sports resorts such as Gstaad or St. Moritz. In cooperation with Bentley and BomberSki, street art works were also on display in Courchevel.
Alex Katz is particularly famous for his figurative paintings: The son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, he was born in New York in 1927. As a pioneer of Pop Art, he always concentrated on the essentials and explored simplified forms and high-contrast color composition early on. His art is diverse, but always has beauty as its central theme. The artist can now look back on more than 200 solo and around 500 group exhibitions; his diverse works are part of over 100 collections worldwide. Alex Katz lives and works in New York and Maine.
