AboutOscillating between fiction and reality, Alex Feuerstein’s (*1981 in Heidelberg, based in Karlsruhe, Germany) figurative compositions remind of flashing fragments of thoughts in a somnolent state of mind. Feuerstein's paintings can each be read as consecutive as well as autonomous sceneries, generating - in their entireness and shown as a group - an impressive overall appearance. His paintings show on first view snapshots of profane, daily scenes or vague moments, that - ripped out of their usual context - bear a certain absurdity. The pictured scenes are kept open to interpretation and are distorted just up to that point where they cannot be classified clearly. Abstract, alienated situations offer variables that - according to the viewer's very personal expectations, imprint and sentimental perception - evoke entirely different associations.
