Alex Duncan in conversation with Tim Davies
Saturday 17 Sept 2011 (2pm)
In Alex Duncan's new exhibition at Mission Gallery, 'Surge' he has created site specific work using a variety of materials. His work has a hyper-realistic quality, questioning what is real and what has been constructed. Alex Duncan's inspiration comes from the fragility and power of the natural world. He spends as much time in the landscape as in his studio, choosing a poetic gesture of humour or focusing on detail to address a concern and connection between the world and the environment, creating a feeling that nature has re-claimed the space.
At this event Alex Duncan will discuss his work with Tim Davies; Wales' official representative at the 54th Venice Biennale 2011. As Alex Duncan's former tutor at Swansea Metropolitan University, Tim Davies will be able to provide further context and uncover the background of where the artist is, where he has come from and where he is going as the audience becomes immersed in Alex Duncan's first solo exhibition, presented at Mission Gallery.
