Professor Agee is Emeritus at Hunter College; former Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and The Pasadena Art Museum; curator at MoMA and the Whitney, and has published extensively on modern American Art. He is currently working on a book for Rizzoli, Close Readings: Max Weber and American Cubism.
Christina Connett Brophy is the former Douglas and Cynthia Crocker Endowed Chair for the Chief Curator at the New Bedford Whaling Museum (NBWM), and the lead Curator of A Wild Note of Longing: Albert Pinkham Ryder and A Century of American Art, due to open June 24, 2021. She has curated over 30 exhibitions and authored and/or edited all related publications in addition to maintaining key leadership on all associated fundraising, including De Wind is OP! Climate, Culture and Innovation in Dutch Maritime Painting; Whales Today!; The Grand Panorama of a Whaling Voyage Round the World; and Thou Shalt Knot: Clifford W. Ashley. She has secured ground-breaking institutional partnerships, including the US Navy, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, to name a few, and worked extensively with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and others on developing exhibitions and programs on whale conservation and ocean health. She has lectured extensively in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and the USA on cartography, visual arts, maritime history, and other topics.
Christina has taught at both Rhode Island School of Design and University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and has extensive experience in major development roles, tangible asset management, and commercial art business management. She has a BA from Northwestern University, an MA from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a PhD from the Universitat de València in Valencia, Spain, with specialties in visual culture, the history of art and cartography.
Dr. Elizabeth Broun
Currently Elizabeth Broun is Visual Art Advisor to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and on the Board of Directors of the Henry Luce Foundation and The Olana Partnership.
Broun is an expert in the art of Albert Pinkham Ryder and is co-curator and contributing author for a 2021 exhibition on Ryder at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
Broun is Director Emeritá of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and its branch museum, the Renwick Gallery, which she led from 1989 through 2016.
Lois Dodd (American, b. 1927) studied at the Cooper Union in the late 1940s and was a founding member of the Tanager Gallery. Dodd is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Academy. Her work has been the subject of over fifty one-person exhibitions. In 2012, The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art organized a retrospective of Dodd’s work which traveled to the Portland Museum of Art in Maine. Lois is represented by Alexandre Gallery, NY.
