We will be transforming everyday images into stencils which we will cut out by hand, using these to airbrush our drawings onto items of clothing. Materials are included, but please bring 1 (preferably plain) item of clothing with you. *Note: STUDENT/UNWAGED discount of 33% Use the code: student-33 at checkout Access: The studio is on the 1st floor with no lift Bio: Inez Valentine is an artist and designer based in London, and describes her work as a method of unscrambling the everyday's swirl of images and hidden messages: "I like to recreate and recontextualise phone photos, poems, overheard conversations and adverts to create new meanings. Drawing these fragments together, I mesh my personal desires with the public sphere. Stemming from my love for printmaking, I started airbrushing because it lets me work directly onto almost any material. When using it on paper, I usually combine it with drawing, digital prints and gouache. I also make clothes under the moniker aircrush, and have since collaborated with various fashion designers, airbrushing direct to garment. I see my work as sitting somewhere on the boundary between art and fashion, and I like to try and merge the two." The creatives leading each workshop are young and emerging, yet each is working in a strong and accomplished way with their approach and materials.
